Shine Your Light Project-Gary

Passionate. Generous. Dedicated. Inspiring.

For the past two years, I’ve been planting native pollinator gardens through a Winter Sowing project that I learned from Gary. I’ve also learned that few people are as passionate about native plants and environmental stewardship as he is.

Gary believes that small actions can make a big difference. Through community projects, workshops, and countless volunteer hours, he teaches others how to collect seed, grow native plants, support pollinators, and create habitats that benefit local wildlife. His efforts help make Northborough and the surrounding communities better for everyone by reintroducing native plants into local ecosystems.

What I admire most about Gary is not just what he does, but how he does it. He is kind, humble, and completely unassuming. He generously shares his knowledge, encourages others to get involved, and never seeks recognition for the impact he makes.

Gary’s light shines through his dedication to nature, education, and community. The world needs more people like him.

This portrait is part of my limited-edition Shine Your Light Artist Project, celebrating the unique gifts, passions, and contributions of people in our community. My hope is that by sharing these stories, we inspire others to recognize their own light and the difference they can make in the lives of those around them.

The collection will be on display at the Northborough Free Library in September 2026.

Shine Your Light Project-Gayle

When I think of Gayle, I think of an open heart. She gives—quietly and consistently—to her family, her friends, and her community. At the same time, she’s strong, smart, and completely self-assured. The perfect mix.

Gayle has worn many hats over the years (including educator and fellow photographer), but today she’s focused on giving back. She and her mom, Gloria, started the Threads of Hope Closet in Webster, where they provide free shoes and clothing to people living on the street and those in need. This mother/daughter team spends countless hours sorting donations, making runs to a Worcester shelter, and helping anyone who walks through the door.

Gayle’s selfless dedication to caring for others is inspiring. She shows up for people. Whether she knows them or not. And, to me, that says everything…

As a Limited Edition Artist Project, I will be featuring special “Shine Your Light” portraits. If we all shine our light, we will help others who are feeling lost in the darkness as well. I’ll be posting more images of adults and children shining their light.

If you’d like to support Threads of Hope, items can be dropped off on Tuesday 9-11am, Wednesday 10:30am-4pm, Thursday 9-11am and 4-7pm at 4 Church Street, Webster MA.
